Summary

Aaaahhhh!!! So wonderful! But also sooo… wordy at times… I don’t normally skip over paragraphs but I was doing that just to get to a good part of action 😅 I feel like I know what’s going to happen next because it’s kind of similar to ACOTAR, IMO。 But we will see if I’m right。

Maybe I was just in the right reading mood but I found this book a very addictive read, I couldn’t put it down。 The fact that many reviewers seem to find the second book much more interesting is all the better! There is nothing particularly “new” about this story but as a retelling, it was very engaging and easy to get through。 This book does come with a bunch of trigger warnings so please do some research before picking up。4⭐️

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Lots of SA and basically torture p*rn toward the end of it。 For me, it took the book from a 3 to a 2 with the end scenes。 I don’t think you have be descriptive in violence for the scene to still have an impact。 But that’s just me。 Very weak main character, which I bounce between being understanding and being completely annoyed by。 Like I understand being a naive and weak girl is like her whole thing because she’s been in a cage but it doesn’t make it any less terrible to read。 Auren also waits u Lots of SA and basically torture p*rn toward the end of it。 For me, it took the book from a 3 to a 2 with the end scenes。 I don’t think you have be descriptive in violence for the scene to still have an impact。 But that’s just me。 Very weak main character, which I bounce between being understanding and being completely annoyed by。 Like I understand being a naive and weak girl is like her whole thing because she’s been in a cage but it doesn’t make it any less terrible to read。 Auren also waits until after her companion, Rissa, has been brutally r*ped to do anything to the Captain when all she had to do was touch him to turn him gold? Like even when he was being rough w her in the beginning she didn’t do anything? Idk just didn’t sit right with me, maybe I’m in the minority here though。 。。。more

3 out of 5… I don’t what to say about this。 It was really slow, and took over half the book for anything to really happen。 I honestly wouldn’t have read past the sample, if Devin hadn’t pushed me to。 Here’s to hoping the sequel is better

interesting premise but very dehumanising at points (which makes sense in the context but still a little overwhelming)

Once you get past the weird righ that the MC isn’t part of in the first chapter…。。 and then you make it through the next three or four…。 We’ll then it does start to get good and I read the rest in a night。 Doesn’t make up for the fact that the MC has no agency and the support characters are more engaging。 But I did enjoy reading it so four stars… on to the next one I guess

Well, Gild was much different from what I was expecting! The storyline and world building felt very disjointed。 It was heavy on the political aspects of this world, and very little romance at all, so keep that in mind。I'm not entirely sure what to expect next, but I am interested enough to continue on。 I am most intrigued by the MC's special abilities and how that comes into play within the series。**trigger warnings:rape, sexual assault Well, Gild was much different from what I was expecting!

Some of the weakest world-building I’ve seen in a fantasy novel, and a generous dollop of pointless graphic sexual violence。 But I did read it in less than two days, so at least it’s a quick read?

I’ve been sleeping on this series。 After seeing it floating around, I finally decided to give it a go。 Graphic content, read at your own risk。 I wasn’t a fan of the sexual violence or the fact that the MC has Stockholm Syndrome。 But I did feel bad for her at times。 How fair would it be to be locked in a cage for ten years? I’d be pissed and probably useless too。 Also, her back ribbons weirded me the hell out for some reason。 But it’s super fast paced。 I loved Sail and felt heartbroken by what ha I’ve been sleeping on this series。 After seeing it floating around, I finally decided to give it a go。 Graphic content, read at your own risk。 I wasn’t a fan of the sexual violence or the fact that the MC has Stockholm Syndrome。 But I did feel bad for her at times。 How fair would it be to be locked in a cage for ten years? So I realised I had this audiobook already downloaded on my phone and had forgotten about it, so yay!! Another book! Anyway, I really did enjoy this book, although if you were to ask me what happened I wouldn’t have anything to say。 It felt like all of the story either happened before when the book is set or in the sequels, judging by where this one left off。 To be honest, right up until the end I was 100% sure that I was going to read the sequels- I wasn’t sure what direction the story was goin So I realised I had this audiobook already downloaded on my phone and had forgotten about it, so yay!! 4 / 5 ⭐️3,5 / 5 🌶TW: rape, sexual abuseI’m finally starting this series!!! I don’t get why ppl didn’t like this book (aka the first one)。 It’s definitely an introduction for the story, the first steps for this characters arcs and I thought it was done pretty well。 We meet Auren and her life as King Midas favorite saddle。 She is a VERY sheltered woman, locked in a gold cage inside King Midas castle for 10 years。 Her only human contact is Midas himself。 He don’t allow her to come out from her gold cage, to talk to ppl or to simple feel the air outside。 Her world resolves solely on him。 And for her that was ok, Midas saved her from a terrible life and she saw all the horrors the world could offer since she was a kid。 She was happy to be in a locked cage, safe and far away from the world。 But Auren started to want more。 More of Midas, more from their “”””relationship””””, more freedom。 She longes for it but she blindly loves Midas and knows he will never allow it。It’s incredible (and painful) to read this, to see this story from “above” bc you can see how toxic their relationship is。 You can see how utterly trash Midas is and how he manipulate and mistreat Auren。 You can’t even be mad at her bc he made himself her entire world, she can’t see past him, his lies and manipulations。 Since he saved her she thinks he deserves her trust, blind devotion and love and that she can never complain or make him mad or sad at her。 And it’s incredible to witness the firsts little cracks in this foundation。 Auren has a looooooooot to learn about herself, about who she wants to be without the shadow of that trashcan Midas and about the world。 I’m anxious for the her arc to be developed and for her to realize that Midas is the villain in this story bc man she is an amazing character。 I loved how emphatic, high spirit and funny she was。 Her loneliness saddened my heart, how badly she was treated by everybody, principally the others saddles and how she longed to be accepted, to have at least one friend (Rissa, I’m counting on you)。 I’m soooooo anxious to see commander Rip 🤰 the man in pure hotness and I’m here for it, you know。I’m anxious for the turns in this story and can’t wait to start book 2。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I was told that this book wasn't extremely action packed and that it moved slowly yet it was still amazing。 I don't know how I read all 390 pages so fast。 I read the book in so little time and it was almost effortlessly。 Despite how relaxing it may have looked and the fact that the storyline is probably set around a month in this book it was still amazing。 So much is left unanswered and yet with all the cliffhangers and suspense it makes the book so much better。 Plus I got 0 spoilers for this bo I was told that this book wasn't extremely action packed and that it moved slowly yet it was still amazing。 I don't know how I read all 390 pages so fast。 I read the book in so little time and it was almost effortlessly。 Despite how relaxing it may have looked and the fact that the storyline is probably set around a month in this book it was still amazing。 So much is left unanswered and yet with all the cliffhangers and suspense it makes the book so much better。 Plus I got 0 spoilers for this book except some mention of Commander Rip so I've been guessing and plotting as we go along。 Some parts were so easy to guess and yet there were still plot twists and parts were I quite litterally melted onto the floor (Twice this happened)。 I was fangirling over Commander Rip towards the end and I can't wait to see what happens in the next book as I've heard the plot picks up。 But on a side note I have absolutely no clue how to feel about Midas。 I do think shes being used by Midas。 100% in some way。 But with the last chapter from his POV I have no clue about his feelings towards her。 All I can hope for going forward is that her and Rissa become best friends because God if I wasn't scared for all of the girls throughout this book。 Especially Auren。 And that they find Rigby because he was actually such a softie。 Also。 If anyone dies again I'll actually burn the books (no I won't because that's illegal) because I loved Sail so much and his death was so so so cruel。 ❤ Straight onto book 2。 。。。more

This book is sooooo messed up。 I was not expecting it to be so dark when I picked it up。 The whole time, I was asking myself what I had gotten myself into。 This book includes Stockholm Syndrome, r@pe , pedophilia, abuse, manipulation, and everything else horrible。 Supposedly, it’s gets a little better for the main character, but that’s not saying much。

Check the tw’s if you’re gonna read this seriesThe world doesn’t deserve Auren but Auren deserves the world。 I read this book so quick despite being a slow reader 😭 The only thing is at times it was kind of wordy but not that much, I also loved the poem at the end even though to be fair I had no idea what it meant but that’s probably why it’s a good thing i’m not taking english literature a levelAnyway I’m excited to see more of Auren’s story, I love her, as said before, she deserves the world 🌎 Check the tw’s if you’re gonna read this seriesThe world doesn’t deserve Auren but Auren deserves the world。 I read this book so quick despite being a slow reader 😭 The only thing is at times it was kind of wordy but not that much, I also loved the poem at the end even though to be fair I had no idea what it meant but that’s probably why it’s a good thing i’m not taking english literature a levelAnyway I’m excited to see more of Auren’s story, I love her, as said before, she deserves the world 🌎😔❤️❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟📚 💖 。。。more

I didn't feel like the book was going anywhere。 I think I understand the desire to create something unique, if only by including quite a lot of graphic scenes into a fantasy genre but still make it "mainstream"。 I can't say I hated it though I definitely found it "bleh" - might read the rest just to see where it's going。 I also cannot, for the life of me, visualise the main character。 I didn't feel like the book was going anywhere。 I think I understand the desire to create something unique, if only by including quite a lot of graphic scenes into a fantasy genre but still make it "mainstream"。 I can't say I hated it though I definitely found it "bleh" - might read the rest just to see where it's going。 I also cannot, for the life of me, visualise the main character。 。。。more

H-o-l-y crap。 This novel sucked me in incredibly fast。 As a lover of mythology and fantasy, the fictional world and time setting is perfect。 That being said this is a very DARK book with a detailed scene of torture in a sexual manner。 You start off by a startling scene, grabbing your attention and it does not let go。 It is a great alternate story to that of the mythological King Midas, and I enjoyed that he was not the main character。 I grew fond of the main character, Auren, the gilded favored。 H-o-l-y crap。 This novel sucked me in incredibly fast。 As a lover of mythology and fantasy, the fictional world and time setting is perfect。 That being said this is a very DARK book with a detailed scene of torture in a sexual manner。 You start off by a startling scene, grabbing your attention and it does not let go。 It is a great alternate story to that of the mythological King Midas, and I enjoyed that he was not the main character。 I grew fond of the main character, Auren, the gilded favored。 It’s a story of romance, betrayal, arrogance, and ends in the beginning of what I hope to be a great adventure。 You will be warned- it ends on a massive cliffhanger that makes you desperate to get your hands on the next- GLINT。 This book does have many scenes that are a trigger to many past traumas in many people。 If you are sensitive to triggers in sexual nature- this book is not for you。 。。。more

While there are rough parts to get through, I don’t think it is fair to say that that is all the book is。 The men that are pigs are portrayed that way so we hate them。 They are suppose to be villainous。 It was such a fast read for me and I felt like the story had such a fast pace that I didn’t want to put it down。 So much happened and I can’t wait for book #2!

I really don't understand the hype with this book。 I couldn't even get halfway through。 All the characters are terrible, I find it hard to care about any of them including the narrator。 The writing is terrible and the scenes are meant to be shocking and sexy are just boring and offensive。 I really don't understand the hype with this book。 I couldn't even get halfway through。 All the characters are terrible, I find it hard to care about any of them including the narrator。 The writing is terrible and the scenes are meant to be shocking and sexy are just boring and offensive。 。。。more

Not a genre I usually read but thoroughly enjoyed this page turner。An intriguing tale of King Midas and his favoured Auren。Ends on a cliffhanger though。
